WebGender is one of the most powerful social groups to which we belong and the one we typically recognise earliest. From as young as two years old, children recognise gender differences in characteristics and roles and these quickly begin to shape children’s behaviour (Berenbaum et al., 2008; Bigler & Liben, 1992 ). WebUsually, women are portrayed in a negative manner, often sexualized (i.e., with “scanty” or “provocative clothing”) (Collins, 2011, p. 290). That is, they are shown in traditionally feminine or stereotyped roles, for example, as sex objects or depicted solely in the home.
